A Look at What We Offer...

Group Study Rooms off the main space offer a quieter area for homework help and tutoring. Multiple, supervised rooms are available for students of all age groups.

Positive Reinforcement can go a long way in reminding your child what they do well or what you love about him or her. If your child is caught doing something well, being kind, or helping others while at DFAS, we want to make sure you know about it! We want to encourage your children to work hard, be kind, and to love others well. DFAS volunteers encourage those qualities by shining a light on them!

Homework Punch Cards to encourage your child to complete homework while at DFAS each day. If your child completes their daily work, the card gets punched. After 10 punches, he or she gets a chance to choose any item in the DFAS Homework Rewards Store. The store stocks items including books, art supplies, sports paraphernalia, costume jewelry, and candy.

Weekly Discipleship Activities include a interactive group discipleship class designed to help kids learn more about living out the call to love God and love others in daily life. Our monthly themes include big concepts like Patience, Kindness, and Commitment, etc. We also work together to complete group service projects such as packing food pantry boxes, creating blessing bags, etc.

Fenced Playground Area for children in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Outdoor Green Space next to the Family Life Center for team games and recreational sports such as soccer, basketball, flag football, or kickball.

Plenty of room for children to run, play, and enjoy time outdoors each day!

Program Overview & Schedule:

DFAS will be open and closed in conjunction with the Dothan City School (DCS) calendar. 

Hours of Operation 2:45pm-6:00pm Monday - Friday (following opening/closing dates of DCS calendar)

2:45pm - 4:00pm Students arrive and check in electronically at the door

3:00pm - 4:00pm Snack and Homework Check In. Students may use quiet rooms for homework with help and tutoring available from adult volunteers.

4:00pm - 6:00pm Once homework has been completed, students may move to a different daily activity on the green space (weather permitting) such as flag football, soccer, obstacle courses, team building games, basketball, etc. or an indoors activity or class as offered including baking, cooking, science experiments, etc.  

**The above schedule may vary throughout the school year due to special events or activities. 

Dothan First After School Rates:

There is an annual registration fee of $15 to register for the after school program.

·       1st child ($80.00 each month paid August – May)

·       2nd child ($60.00 each month paid August-May)

·       3rd child ($40.00 each month, paid August-May)

*If your child is picked up after 6:05pm, there is an additional charge of $1.00 per minute.
